Time
To achieve and thrive in that new world we’re dreaming of – justice! – we need to ground our work in a well-lived life that includes breaks from our work.
Women are not failing to lean in and we’re not failing at work-life balance; work and life – which is to say, our society – are failing us.
I have zero desire to continue cosigning inequitable systems or unprotested problems with my unconscious contributions and my uncompensated time.
It isn’t that women are refusing to do leisure right. It’s that we’re part of a system that requires our labour to make the leisure of others possible.
